PopSugar Must Have Box Review December 2013

I was so surprised to find my PopSugar Must Have December box waiting outside my door today - since I just got my shipping email, I thought it'd be another week before I get it. I already looked at the spoilers and frankly, was not super excited. However, it's always so much better to see things in person and this box turned better than expected. Here is a snapshot of everything the box included:

I am always thrilled to see all the goodies when I open the box. The information card described the December box as "the wish list you never knew you needed." Very appropriate, I thought, at the end of all the unwrapping. Here are the details:

Must Have Fashion:
Lulu Frost for PopSugar Bracelet ($110)
I've never heard of Lulu Frost before and was not sure about this bracelet from the spoiler pictures. However, I actually like this bracelet - a lot. It's an interesting combination of vintage-y and sparkly - very sparkly. I'll happily wear it, and it can be stacked with some of my leather Gorjana bracelets.

Must Have Home:
Mixt Studio Holiday Gifting Paper ($9)
I can always use more wrapping paper around the holidays, so this is a welcome gift. This paper is elegant and unique.

Govino Go Anywhere Flutes ($12.95)
I've heard raving reviews about these and am happy to have  received them. We do go to picnics so these will come in handy.

Must Have Beauty:
Modelco Fibre Lashextend Black Mascara ($20)
I'm always happy to receive mascara in my subs - especially new brands and this one is new to me. It promises lump-free lashes and has added lash fibres. Interested to try it out. Right now, Buxom is my go-to everyday mascara.

NCLA Peppermint Lane Nail Wraps ($16)
I've never used nail wraps and frankly, I'm not sure if I'm that intrigued to try these. They'll probably go in my gift pile - they definitely look cute and season-appropriate.

Must Have Food:
CC Made Caramel Corn ($4)
I received the Pistachio Caramel variety. I love regular popcorn and am not a huge fan of caramel one - maybe occasionally. I will use this one though as a part of a hostess gift for one of our upcoming visits.

Chirardelli Squares Chocolates (~$12)
Two packages were included in the box - the Milk & Caramel ones and the Holiday Assortment. I am a fan of dark chocolate and do buy Ghirardelli dark chocolate varieties, so I will probably include these in gifts to some friends.

My verdict: Overall, I am more pleased with my Must Have box than I expected to be. The fact that I liked the bracelet so much plays a big part in that. Also, I love the go anywhere flutes and the wrapping paper, and I'm excited to try the mascara. The total value of the box comes to a little over $170 - a high value box and definitely worth the $40 price tag (to me, that is). I've been a PopSugar Must Have subscriber for over an year, and I think I'll stick with the sub for now.

PopSugar Must Have Box Review November 2013

My November PopSugar Must Have Box arrived yesterday and though I can bever resist spoilers, I was still excited to see all the goodies for myself.
A first look...

This box is getting into the holiday spirit, here are a few lines from the information card included:

"With the holidays kicking into high gear very soon, we wanted to make your life easier with practical but swoon-worthy pieces. From a cozy wrap to a new way to remove nail polish, you'll find everything to get you through November and beyond..." Makes perfect sense, and now a look at all the goodies:
An attempt to capture all the goodies

Must Have Fashion:
Michael Stars Wrap ($42)
I received the black / white print one. It's called Folk Art Wrap based on the brand website. This is a nice-size wrap, it's soft, 100% acrylic. I love scarves but I'm still not sure if this is my-kind-of print - maybe it'll grow on me once I wear it. It certainly is a nice neutral accessory.

Must Have Home:
Illume Candle ($15.75)
I received the Naughty scent and it is a very spicy, almost men's cologne type scent. I would have preferred the Nice scent that is said to be of vanilla... My husband really liked the one I got, though and I like the jar / styling of the candle.

Must Have Beauty:
The Soap & Paper Factory Roland Pine Shea Butter Soap ($8)
I like soap, but this one is definitely not for me. It has a very nice pine wood scent but it will go to my husband. The packaging is beautiful. I would love to try some of the other scents from this brand, like this Gardenia one.

Absolute! Nail Polish Remover Pads ($1.99)
I received the Lemon scent and I'm definitely excited to try these out. I like the fact that you can take this cute little box anywhere.

Must Have Home:
Lands' End Single Canvas Wine Tote ($14.50)
While I would not have bought this myself, I can certainly see the usefulness of having it around. Wine is one of the items we often take when visiting friends, so I'll give it a try next time.

CanvasPop Gift Card ($30)
The gift card cannot be applied towards shipping and looking at their prices, you do need to pay extra in order to get a good sized print, but I think it's probably worth it... that is if you are considering shopping for a canvas print.

Must Have Food:
Maison De Monaco Strawberry & Blackcurrant Cream Preserves ($6)
I and everyone in my family love preserves, especially in winter. So, I was definitely excited to get this in my November Box. It's said to be hand-cooked and have less sugar than traditional preserves... I tried it on some scones today and it is absolutely delicious! It's not overly sweet and you can see the pieces of strawberries - I'm a fan!

Special Extra:
Barefruit Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips ($1.99)
I've had Barefruit apple chips before - the apply and apple / cinnamon varieties and I like them. Not sure if I'll like the sea salt on this one, but will give it a try.

My verdict: The total value of the November Must Have box comes to a little over $120. While it's consistent with the high value to cost ratio of past boxes, it certainly is not the highest value we've had so far. While not one of my favorite boxes so far, I do like the variety of the items I received and the fact that I'll get to try new things. My favorite goodies from this box are the delicious preserves and the Absolute! Nail Polish Remover pads. Also, I'm definitely gifting a few of the items but that's fine.

I'm sure some of the items will have variations - such as the wrap, maybe the soap, the preserves and the candle. That box looks pretty amazing to me - I can't wait to get mine and post more details once I get to see everything.

PopSugar Must Have Box October 2013 Review + Code

My October PopSugar Must Have box arrived on Friday and while I already knew what was inside, I couldn't wait to see all the items in person. Here is a look of all the goodies inside:
 First look...
... and all the goodies.
This month's theme is around Breast Cancer awareness and Halloween. PopSugar is donating $1 for every box purchased in addition to teaming up with some of the brands represented in this month's box.

Must Have Food:

The Can't Cook Book: Recipes for the Absolutely Terrified by Jessica Seinfeld ($16.79)
I like when I receive books and various themed, as well. I love to cook and the recipes in this book are accompanied by gorgeous photos.

Must Have Beauty and Special Extra:

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Liner ($6) and Smokey Shadow Palette ($7)
While I'm not a liner-type-of-girl, I'll try this out for a new look. The brush seems quite think for an exact application. The smokey palette looks very appropriate for the approaching holidays. I still can't decide if I'll keep it or gift it. i believe I got a sparkly palette in one of my Ipsy boxes, so I'll probably gift one of these.

Special Extra:
$20 Stitch Fix Card
I have heard of Stitch Fix - the new personal styling online service where you receive hand-selected goodies and you get to keep what you like. I personally don't quite see the benefit of paying $20 flat styling fee each time you get to try clothes... I may gift this one.

Must Have Fashion:

Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet ($45)
While PopSugar has been sending quite a few Gorjana items in its boxes, I can;t complain as I really like the brand's style and the fact that it can be mixed with other pieces. This bracelet is very delicate and feminine, I like it more than I thought I would.

Jane Tran Bobby Pins ($12)
These have a little sparkle to them and I got 2 each of light gray, green and black. Still deciding whether to use them or gift them.

The Wet Brush ($8.98)
I have not heard of that brush before but reviewers say it's amazing. While my hair doesn't tangle a lot, my girl's hair tends to, so I'll definitely try this brush on her.

Must Have Beauty:

Julep for PopSugar Duo, Nail Polish in Coco ($11.20) and Polymer Top Coat ($14.40)
I have not tried the topcoat and am glad I'll have the chance. It's said to dry shiny and smudge-free in just five minutes. I also like the Coco color - very fall-ish.

Must Have Food:

The Crispery Halloween Crispycake ($3.95)
This crispy-cake is huge. I've never been a fan of this type of treat but I tried it and so did my daughter. It's OK, but nothing extra special for either of us... as I said, it's just not my type of treat.

My verdict: The total value of this box comes to $125.32 and that is excluding the $20 Stitch Fix gift card. As always, PopSugar exceeded the price of the box in multiples. While this may not be my favorite box, I do like a few of the goodies - the cookbook, the Gorjana bracelet and the nail polish duo - a lot and I'll happily use them. If you'd like to see my other PopSugar Must Have Box reviews, you can do so here.

Neiman Marcus PopSugar Must Have Box: SPOILERS

A few days ago PopSugar announced that there would be a Neiman Marcus Must Have box available on Wednesday, 10/16. I have been very intrigued and was hoping that they would send some spoilers to further stir our curiosity. Well, I received the following sneak peek in my email regarding one of the items that is going to be included in every Neiman Marcus PopSugar Must Have box. Take a look:

I really like chevron-patterns on any home decor item and it is very much on trend. This throw looks very stylish - so, I'm definitely interested and curious to see what the price of the box would be.

What do you think of the spoiler?

POPSUGAR Must Have Box June *SPOILER*

It is time for PopSugar Must Have *spoilers* for June. I've been 'spying' on my favorite Makeuptalk forum, waiting for someone to get their June box and 'share' the contents - and someone just did! Here is what's said to be included in June's PopSugar Must Have box:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer ($65) + samples
Gorjana & Griffin Zuma Scarf ($62) - just lovely! This is the item I'm most excited about!
Gorjana & Griffin Gift Card ($25)
Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns Book ($13.99)
Addicted to Sweat DVD 4 (~$12)
Fit Popcorn by Popcorn Indiana (~$5 for a 4.4 oz bag)
Project 7 Feed the Hungry Peppermint Tube ($2.69)

Total value of the box comes to ~$185 which makes it one of the highest-value boxes yet; also, a great value compared to the $35 price tag. As always, I will post more details once my box arrives. If what's said to be included in this June's PopSugar Must Have box is true, I'm already super excited!

POPSUGAR Must Have May Box Review

Although I already knew what was rumored to be in the May POPSUGAR Must Have box, I couldn't open it fast enough when it showed up at my door a couple of days ago. I really like my POPSUGAR Must Have boxes and while this one is not my top favorite, it certainly is a great box. Take a look at all these goodies:

This month's POPSUGAR Must Have theme is around getting ready for summer, for parties at home or outside - quite appropriate I thought. Here are the details of everything included:

PopSugar Logo Reusable Bag (~$1)
This was the first item that popped up when I opened the box. While on the smaller side, this bag is definitely going to be used. I always carry a reusable bag in my handbag, just in case.

Must Have Beauty:

Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint ($9.84)
I'm always (like ALWAYS) excited to get lip balms, so I was very pleased with this Pacifica Lip Tint. I got the Guava Berry color. I like Pacifica products, but I've never tried their lip products before. After wearing it for the last couple of days, I can say it feels great and the color is the perfect combination of sheer and tint, very natural - definitely a winner.

Must Have Fashion:
Kooringal Giselle Mid Brim Hat ($27.99)
This was one of the items I wasn't too sure about - I already have hats for the summer and I prefer light colors for a beach hat. However, I am surprised at how elegant and comfy this hat is. The wire on the brim makes it work. I received the graphite color.

Must Have Fashion:
$30 Charm & Chain Gift Card
Charm and Chain is an online jewelry store, offering pieces from more than 50 jewelry designers.  This is a $30 gift card off any purchase and that I thought was really neat - no minimum purchases requirements, etc. I'm still deciding if I want to choose something for myself or keep the card for a gift.

Must Have Entertainment:
Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk to Myself Cards ($13.45)
I do like getting books and the like in my boxes. These are conversation cards about 50 interesting, to say the least, topics you can discuss with your friends.

Must Have Beauty:

The Original BeautyBlender Set ($21.99)
The set includes the beauty-blender and the blender-cleanser. I don't have a BeautyBlender  but obviously everyone is raving about it - its unique shape and texture helps you apply make up with a breeze. POPSUGAR sent out an email with a video showing how to use that beauty must have. This was the second item that I wasn't overly excited about receiving but after doing a bit more research, I think I might actually like this tool a lot.

Must Have Food:

The Modern Cocktail Modern Margarita Set (~$8)
Though I haven't heard of this brand before, I think the idea of portioned pre-made girly cocktails that also include the rimming crystals in the pack is great and very convenient. I like the packaging, too. I do think having those chilled for a girls night in would be fun.

Special Extra: Must Have Food:

Way Better Snacks ($3.45)
I got the Sweet Potato variety and I was pretty sure I would like it as I like anything sweet potato. These chips were really tasty and healthy, as well.

My verdict: I am definitely pleased with this month's POPSUGAR Must Have box. The total value of the box came to $115.75 which is great given the $35 paid for it. I liked the variety of the items and the fact I got to try some new brands. My favorite "must have's" this month are the Pacifica Lip Tint and the Charm & Chain Gift card.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box May *SPOILER*

As you might know, I love my PopSugar Must Have boxes and, as always, I have been impatiently waiting for someone to get their box. Thanks to the ladies at Makeuptalk, we already have spoilers for the May box. Take a look at what's said to be included:

The value of the box comes to almost $125 which is great, given the $35 paid for it. Although I always like my boxes better when I see everything in person, even now I think this is a great box. I'll post my 'official' review once I receive my box - can't wait!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2013 Review

My April POPSUGAR Must Have Box showed up at my door today - that is the earliest it has arrived since I've been with the sub! I already had an idea what was in the box and while I was expecting to really like the contents, I just loved everything! Take a look:

April's theme is about "embracing Spring and getting in the eco spirit" with Earth Day around the corner (April 22). With the help of an Eco-friendly four-in-one garment bag, a classic fresh scent, some jewelry and some treats I don't think getting into Spring-mood would be a problem at all. Here are the details:

Must Have Food:
Alter Eco Dark Quinoa Chocolate ($3.50): I've seen this brand in my local Whole Foods store but have never tried it. I loved it and to no surprise, as I simply love dark chocolate! I also love quinoa, but I've never had it in chocolate before. I found the combination delicious, in addition to it being healthy. I'll definitely be buying more of this brand - the included $1 off coupon will be used.

Must Have Beauty:

Kai Perfume Oil ($36): I've heard of this oil before and know it has celebrity fans following. I found the scent of "gardenia and white exotic flowers" really appealing. It's very fresh and light, not over-flowery at all; it really is spring-y. Also, the more it wears, the lighter the gardenia scent becomes and the more I can smell sweet and warmer notes... It's a roll-on bottle and it will be perfect for my summer travels and to bring in my purse for on the go touch-ups. I know some people don't like getting perfume in their subs as it's personal, however I like trying out new perfumes and don't mind getting these little treats (the fact that they come in little packages is definitely a plus) from time to time.

Must Have Fashion:

The Green Garmento Four-in-one Reusable Garment Bag ($9.98): I've never heard of this brand before but the idea seems cool and definitely Eco-friendly as it converts from hamper to duffel to bring clothes to the dry cleaner, to garment bag. I'll most probably be using this as a travel garment bag for my upcoming summer trip (going to a June wedding) and will then be using it to store some of my winter coats. I would have preferred if it did not have the POPSUGAR logo on, especially when I use it as a travel garment bag, however it's not a deal breaker.

Must Have Fashion:

Shashi New Nugget Bracelet ($22): This two-tone gold nugget bracelet is fun and can be stacked up with other bracelets for a unique look. I got the gray color and I love it! The information card said POPSUGAR picked three colors for the April's box: cobalt, turquoise and gray. I am a bit partial to any shade of blue, but the gray is also very nice and neutral.

Must Have Beauty:

Tatcha Petal Fresh Evening Aburatorigami Beauty Papers ($15): These evening clutch-size papers are said to keep your skin's natural moisture and not mess up your make-up. I typically don't carry blotting papers in my bag but now that I have these, I'll definitely throw them in and use them.

My verdict: I'm loving every single item in my April's Popsugar Must Have Box! While it may be the box with the least number of items included so far (no extras this month and supposedly, the lightest box yet; and at just under $87 in value it is the lowest-value box I received so far) - it is the contents that count and in this case, I will use every single item in the box. I especially like the fact that a few of the items will come handy in my summer plans (upcoming trips & wedding). To me, this is definitely a successful box.

If you want to sign up for POPSUGAR Must Have Box, you can learn more here. Use coupon code REFER5 to get $5 off your first box.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box March 2013 Review

My March POPSUGAR Must Have Box finally arrived today! I already knew what items I was getting (I can't stay spoiler-free) but I was still excited to see everything in person, as well as the varieties of the included products. Take a look:
This month's theme is around Spring and greeting the new season in style. I would say this box strikes a good balance of a variety of items that many people would find appealing and / or useful. I personally am happy with the box and like most of the items.

Must Have Fashion:

Heather Belle Signature Tassel Necklace ($72) - (So, it was not a bracelet after all and I'm actually happy about it since we've already gotten a bracelet in a previous box). I really like this necklace - it's long, very much on-trend and has a bit of Bohemian feel. It's casual, easy to wear during the day or on a night out. The design was just added on on the Heather Belle website (today actually, as it was not there when I did my post yesterday). I approximated the price based on other brand pieces. Now I have the exact price.

Hollywood Fashion Secrets Sweater Saver ($7.99) - As I mentioned in the Spoiler post, I haven't heard of this product before but it sounds like a useful one. you use to grab and remove pulling, fuzz and knots from your sweaters. I will see how it works.

Must Have Home:

The Laundress Denim Specialty Wash ($20) - I wasn't familiar with this brand but I'm really glad to try this fabric detergent. I was hoping to get the Delicate or the Denim wash, so I'm happy with this item. Getting to try brands like this - higher-end, specialty and not something I would necessarily buy - is one of the reasons I love Popsugar Must Have.

Corkatoo Corkscrew ($13.99) - This is one of the items I was most excited about! I don't need another wine opener but this is such a cool, bright (I love the green with pink accents!) and stylish piece. I'm still deciding if I'll keep this one for me or gift to a very close person who will love this.

Must Have Beauty:
Buxom Sculpted Lash Mascara ($12.99) - I'm always excited to try new kinds of mascara and I've heard only good things about this brand. The wand has a unique S-shaped brush that I haven't tried so far.

The New Black Nail Polish ($10) - I'm always excited to get nail polish, especially mini ones as I never use a whole regular bottle. I've never used this brand before but I was a bit disappointed with the colors I got (I would have preferred blues or reds) and the fact one of the bottles had spilled. The idea behind this duo's is to use them together as a unique French manicure or on alternating fingers / toes, so I might give it a try.

Special Extras:
Marshmallow Peeps (~$1) - Perfect for Easter!
Hollywood Fashion Secrets Fashion Tape Assortment Pack (~$5) - A sample of the brand's most popular fashion tapes, this is a good one to carry in your purse in case of an "emergency".
Also, included in the box are a couple of coupons: one for a mini Buxom lip gloss with a Sephora purchase and the other for 50% off a Hollywood Fashion Secrets purchase.

The total value of this month's box comes to ~$143 - is consistent with the high box value to monthly subscription price rate that Popsugar has been giving its subscribers.  No complaints here!

If you want to sign up for POPSUGAR Must Have and want to use my referral link, you can do so with code REFER5 for $5 off your first box.

POPSUGAR Must Have March Box *SPOILER*

*If you'd like to remain spoiler-free, you should not read the rest of this post*

Hello everyone! It's time for PopSugar Must Have March *SPOILERS*! Some of the ladies on makeuptalk forum received their boxes and were nice to share the contents. Since I can never remain spoiler-free, I peeked and here's what is said / rumored to be included in this month's box.

1. Corkatoo Waiter's Corkscrew (~ $14 at Amazon, assorted colors) - this is such a cool kitchen item, I'm hoping I get the blue one.
2. The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo (~ $16 for a 16 oz bottle at Amazon)
3. Marshmallow Peeps Yellow Chicks (~ $5 for 5-count)
4. Buxom Buxom® Sculpted Lash Mascara True Black ($19 at Amazon)
5. The New Black Glimmer Twins 2-Piece Nail Polish Set, assorted colors ($10 at Amazon)
6. Hollywood Sweater Saver Stone ($8.05 at Amazon) - I've never heard of this product before but it seems quite neat; you use it by lightly rubbing over your garment & watch it grab and remove pulling, fuzz and knots.
7. Heather Belle Bracelet - this one is a total guess in terms of the kind of bracelet (maybe it's not even a bracelet?) included. Pictured in the collage above is the Infinity 8 Bracelet retailing for $95.  All the designs on the website are something I would gladly wear.

Based on these spoilers, I'm excited about the box - it seems in line with the spring / Easter / new beginning theme. As always, I will have my final opinion once I get my box (it's a couple of states away from me) and experience the items first-hand. I can't wait!

What do you think of these spoilers? Have you received your March box yet?

POPSUGAR Must Have Box February 2013 Review

My February POPSUGAR Must Have Box was delivered at my door today. As you might have read, I already knew what was in this month's box but that did not spoil my excitement to get and see all the goodies in person.

This month's theme was all about Valentine's day and pampering, and PopSugar sent out the boxes earlier than usual with the idea, I'm assuming, that everyone can get theirs around Valentine's Day. I've been a fan of my Must Have boxes ever since October and this one didn't disappoint - although I might not have bought all of the items myself, I would gladly use every single one of them; and that, I believe, is part of the allure of lifestyle-type subscription boxes like this one. Also, that is the first non-food box that got my husband's attention - I think he got a bit more supportive of the whole subscription box craze after seeing some of the goodies included... So, I'm happy with PopSugar's special Valentine's treat. Here is a breakdown of what was included:

Must Have Fashion:

Brokedoan Spa Wrap ($84) - mine is baby pink and "oh, so soft", I'll gladly use it for an extra less-ordinary after-bath laziness.

A pair of Hanky Pankys ($20) - I received a yellow pair and while this is not a color I'd typically choose for myself, I don't mind it. The brand seems of high quality.
Also, included is a discount for a Hanky Panky purchase plus a coupon for a free Zoya nail polish.

Must Have Beauty:
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain ($7.48) - I received the Romantic color. As I've said before, lip balms & glosses are among my most favorite products and I wouldn't mind receiving one in every single box. This lip balm stain is really nice, it goes on smooth and the color stays natural. Initially, I thought the Romantic color is a bit too red for my taste but when I put it on, it was just a few shades darker than my lips. I do like it and I'll be putting this in my purse.

Must Have Food:

MarieBelle New York's Tresor Box ($12) - I got the Dark Chocolate flavor (love dark chocolate!) and they are yummy - little perfect crispy dark chocolate pearls that can be enjoyed just as they are or as a dessert / granola topping.

Extras this month: Conversation Hearts 1 oz. box (~$1) - cute and so appropriate for this time of the year. My daughter loves them!

Must Have Entertainment:

Safe Haven Book and song download ($7.99) - I've heard about the movie and it does sound like something I'd enjoy. Besides, while I haven't read the book, The Notebook the movie is one of my all-time favorites - seriously, I know it's taste-specific but I just love everything about it. I'll see how Safe Haven the book goes. Also, since one of my resolutions is to read more books this year, this one comes in handy.

Must Have Home:
Connoisseurs Quick Jewelry Cleanser ($7.92) - Useful to have at home, this cleanser works on gold, platinum and gemstones.

The total value of this month's box comes to ~$140 which is about four times more than the $35 monthly subscription - not bad at all!
